Is the carbon price table from 2016 (https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2016-12/documents/sc_co2_tsd_august_2016.pdf) the more recent one?
Those are the latest, using those methods, for federal policy making in the U.S. You can see here for a discussion of why that is and what has happened since 2016. The sample price tables that come with the latest version of InVEST are based on the 2016 estimates you linked (in 2007 $USD, as consistent with the USIWGSCC estimates). That is not explicitly noted in the user’s guide, sorry about that!

A note about this has been added to the user’s guide. Thanks for the discussion!

thak you both for the answers, very helpful
Also, I found this very useful, https://www.carbonbrief.org/qa-social-cost-carbon. I am not an expert on economic valuation so maybe other non-experts can find it useful too
That is very comprehensive and well-written, thanks for sharing! @jdouglass, would you consider adding a link to that in the User’s Guide section under blue carbon valuation?
Done! I just added this to the user’s guide chapter under evaluation.
Hi the new document is available
Great! We are working on getting this into InVEST in a future release as base data. The design of InVEST is such that you can freely modify your inputs, so for others interested in this, you can update the price table yourself in the meantime.
