Rainfall depth data

Can Climate Engine for rainfall depth? Or should I contact local metereological dept?

Hello @Rahi -

Which InVEST model do you need rainfall information for? Several of them require raster data, one requires a single value.

There are several things called Climate Engine out there - which one are you referring to? I’m guessing climateengine.org, which uses Google Earth Engine to analyze climate data, is this correct?

If so, i haven’t used this app before, so don’t know the quality of the data that it provides. But if you feel good about its methods, and feel like it’s representing your study area well enough, and it creates the spatial (or single value) data that is needed for the model you’re using, then you’re welcome to use it.

That said, it is usually best to have data that is as local as possible, as it’s likely to be more accurate. So if you do have access to local meteorological data that has good coverage of your study area, and is of good quality, then that would be great to use.
