It looks like the precipitation raster size has an impact on all final rasters. I used the precipitation and evapotranspiration monthly data rasters from www.worldclim.org. The precipitation raster has a grid of 4.5 x 4.5 km, which is very coarse. On the other side, the potential evapotranspiration raster has 900 x 900 m, which is ok. Do you have any recommendations for a source of reliable precip/evapotranspiration data, please?
The WorldClim data does come at 30s (~1km) resolution, that’s the smallest available.
Since you’re working in Europe, you might look into the European Space Agency and/or European Commission for data. I’m not sure if they provide precipitation and/or ET0, but they might.
If you find precipitation data that you like (especially if it comes with minimum/maximum temperature as well), you can calculate your own evapotranspiration layer, as described in the User Guide.
If anyone working in Europe has more specific advice, please chime in!
Hi Stacie,
Till now, I found 10, 5, and 2.5 minutes resolution at World Clim. I definitely will try 30 sec and I think that will be perfect.
Thanks a lot!
