Excessive processing overhead for GUI of Offshore Wind Energy?

Hi,

I’m running the Offshore Wind Energy Production tool on a Macbook Pro, and launching the tool takes more than 5 minutes with one CPU running at 100%. It also takes a minute or two of processing every time I update one of the input parameters (e.g., changing the number of turbines). This seems a bit excessive. Maybe the GUI is doing too much error checking on the input parameters?

Running the calculations, in contrast, works quite well and is fast by comparison.

This isn’t a fatal bug, just a suggestion to examine or fix on a future version.

I’m running InVEST 3.7.0 on a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 with macOS 10.14.6. I also get the same behavior on InVEST-3.7.0.post212+hd9612c04a8dc.

Yes, this is a known issue with the Wind Energy model (and it happens on Windows as well). We’re working on a fix for this (and a slew of other related issues with validation).
