InVEST SDR fillpits

What is the issue or question you have?

Hi, I am running my SDR model for a watershed and it seems that the model is stuck in filling pits. Its been running for 24 hrs now and it is still not moving.

What do you expect to happen?

Can you help me figure this out?

What have you tried so far?

I tried running it for three times and even double check all my layers and adjust the resolution based on the DEM.

Hello @mpormon and welcome back to the forums!

I’m not sure that there’s a quick and easy answer here. At the very least, could you share your input data with us so that we might debug this further? And what version of InVEST are you running?

It is hard to say what, exactly is going on, but if the InVEST application has not frozen and the pitfilling function is still running (but nothing extra is being printed to the logfile), that sounds a lot like an infinite loop, which is almost certainly a software bug on our part and something that we’ll need to look into.

One possibility that might fix the issue is to try running your DEM through another pitfilling routine, such as the Wang & Liu pitfilling function (which can be found in SAGA GIS and/or the QGIS processing toolbox) before providing the pitfilled DEM as an input to the InVEST software.

Let us know how this goes, and please do share your inputs and the logfile (however far it gets, we know it’ll be incomplete) so we can look into it!
