Pollination verification with wild-bee observations

Dear community

During the verification of the InVEST pollination abundance index with wild-bee observations, two points of discussion arose.

(1) Many projects validate the output (abundance index) with observed species richness AND abundance (e.g. Kennedy et al. 2013). Is it right, that the observed abundance is more related to the InVEST abundance index? So I do not understand why studies use observed richness.

(2) In my case mostly linear functions were the best function. However R2 is quite low (for a species modeler like me). What do you think about the fit?

Interesting questions, but I’m going to have to defer to the scientists and analysts in the room on this one. @Lisa @swolny @jesseG
