The 2026 Natural Capital Symposium: June 29-July 1 at Stanford University
Don’t miss the Natural Capital Project’s 20th anniversary edition of its symposium, this time with a dedicated software-focused contributor track.
This international convening brings together the growing community of public and private sector leaders, researchers, practitioners, and students moving us toward a future where nature is valued in decision-making. Join us to connect with the maintainers of InVEST, users developing science and software with InVEST, and to participate in contributor-led discussions about new features and possibilities. This symposium will highlight promising innovations and recent enhancements in the InVEST Workbench, as well as provide the chance to shape the landscape of the open source science and software at the core of our community. Come to share your insights, get inspired by global leaders in nature-based approaches to sustainability and prosperity, and enrich our shared community.
Session themes:
- The latest InVEST software innovations – making it easier than ever to integrate ecosystem services modeling into other applications and opening the door for community contributions to the InVEST Workbench with InVEST Plugins – plus contributor-led conversations about ecosystem services data and tools more broadly;
- How governments and international financial institutions are scaling up natural capital approaches in policy, finance, and operations to achieve real impact and better outcomes for people and the planet;
- The scientific frontiers of this work, including the mental and physical health benefits of nature;
- And much more!
Registration will open in early 2026. Look for a call for abstracts as well - including a specific abstract call for the software-focused contributor track. Check for updates on the event webpage or follow us on LinkedIn, and share with your networks!
