SDR model results units

Hi all,

I have recently completed SDR model for a part of the U.S. In the software goudline says “As of InVEST 3.15.0, the raster results of SDR are given as values per hectare. To convert the per hectare values to per pixel values, adjust by the size of your pixels relative to one hectare. For example: If 1 pixel = 900 m2, then the conversion from metric tons per hectare (t/ha) to metric tons per pixel (t/pixel) would be: (t/ha x 1/10000 ha/m2 x 900 m2/pixel) or (the per hectare value x (900/10000)). The number will get smaller when the pixel size is smaller than a hectare.”. However, I used layer version available in the website; version InVEST 3.1.6.2. I am wondering to know if still this version provide result as tons per hectare or it is per pixel?

Hi @hkarimi,

Yes, all versions of InVEST that have been released since 3.15 also provide per hectare outputs for SDR.

Thank you so much for clarifying. For my my model for US SOutheats that is forested lands and flat slope, results of soil loss and sediment export are from 0-2 t/ha. Does this value make sense?

Hi @hkarimi,

You are correct in understanding that slope is an important driver, however unfortunately I don’t have the knowledge of your study area/data to evaluate those specific output values. If you are concerned I would recommend comparing your outputs to observed data. The User’s guide has a section about this: SDR: Sediment Delivery Ratio — InVEST® documentation . Please let me know if you have additional concerns!

Thank you very much for clarification and your time.

Bests,

Hazhir
