SWY on Irrigated Landscapes: Is there a way to integrate inputs and outputs from irrigation within a watershed?

Hi everyone,

I am running the SWY on a watershed draining into a reservoir. There are groundwater wells mainly used for irrigation (which I have coordinates for). Irrigation also happens within the landscape (I have a shapefile of where as well) . Is there a way to include these inputs and outputs in the model? Are there published studies that have done so that you are aware of?

Thanks for your question! The InVEST SWY model does not explicitly account for irrigation or groundwater wells as inputs or outputs. However, you could consider exploring how irrigation and groundwater abstraction might indirectly quantitatively impact key model inputs in your study area, such as evapotranspiration and precipitation. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any published studies that have directly incorporated irrigation or groundwater wells into the SWY model.
