A framework to validate InVEST NDR using open-access monitoring data in the US

Hi everyone,
I am using InVEST NDR for my graduate research, recently with the support of a team of coauthors, we published a framework to validate InVEST NDR using open-access monitoring station data from the Water Quality Portal that might be useful for this community. The framework describes the process of preparing the reference data, including the evaluation of the raw water quality data to identify missing observations, calibrating and validating a model to fill data gaps, as well as linking additional databases to evaluate point source pollution to adjust the reference data before comparing the InVEST predictions. The article includes the R script to replicate the process.

Hello @Mariam and welcome to the forum!

I am just now seeing both your post and @dowthut’s post related to your paper, and wanted to thank you for your valuable contribution to the community and our collective modeling framework.

Please see the other thread for more verbiage from me about it, but I also wanted to ask if it would be ok for us to provide a reference to your paper in our User Guide? You’ve done a more thorough job than we have so far in documenting this process, and it would be great for others to benefit from it.

Hello, @swolny,

Yes, of course, it would be great if others could benefit from the framework. Feel free to add the paper reference to the InVEST User Guide.
