"Windows protected your PC" for version 3.15.0 without option of running it anyway

Hi everyone,
I was trying to install the latest version 3.15.0 on Windows 11 Enterprise. When double-clicking on the exe file, I got the “Windows protected your PC” message. Contrary to the solution posted here ("Windows Protected Your PC" During InVEST 3.14.2 Installation), there is no option of running the exe anyway. How can I circumvent this issue?

Hi @NinaS , thanks for posting the issue here. I’m not sure why Windows does not present the “Run Anyway” option. Perhaps there are Windows Defender settings that control that on your machine.

You can try this instead:
Right-click on the exe file and open the Properties menu. Look for an “unblock” option.

For me, this bypassed the SmartScreen dialog altogether.

As an additional note, we had to recently update our code signing certificate for Windows and that new certificate can take some time before it becomes “trusted” by Windows. This is why Windows is flagging InVEST as a potential security risk. Hopefully in the near future, it will be recognized as a trusted piece software again!
